Project Description

The new M3 motorway is part of the Dublin-Monaghan route, the main link between Dublin and the Northwest of the State. This new infrastructure will be of paramount importance in the economic development of the region since it will provide significant travel time reductions by eliminating the need to drive through all major towns; additionally, the M3 motorway represents considerable safety improvements for people and goods along this corridor.

The scheme begins at the end of the existing Clonee By-Pass (on the existing National Primary N3 / R147), from where it extends for 50 kms to North of Kells where it connects with the existing N3 and the existing N52.

The project runs parallel to the existing N3 / R147 with frequent connections to the local network; along the new M3 motorway there are a total of 7 junctions (grade separated interchanges) at the following locations: Pace (near Dunboyne), Dunshaughlin, Blundelstown, Kilcarn and Athboy (South and North of Navan), Kilmainham and Kells.

As part of the project various improvements to other roads were built totalling more than 37 kms of upgraded infrastructures for the benefit of the local drivers.

This project represented the largest infrastructure delivered under a PPP scheme in the history of the Republic of Ireland at the time and its completion two months ahead of schedule is the realization of a successful collaboration between the public and private sectors in delivering a much needed infrastructure for the region.

The road has been fully operational since 4th June 2010, opening ahead of schedule after approximately three years of construction; since then, Eurolink M3 is focused in providing the most pleasant and safe driving experience to our customers.
